On June 25, discussions regarding the promising prospects of tourism relations between Azerbaijan and Mexico took place during a meeting between Kanan Gasimov, Head of the Staff of the State Tourism Agency, and a delegation led by Mrs. Maria Victoria Romero Caballero, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the United States of Mexico.

The meeting provided a platform for both parties to exchange insights and explore potential collaborative initiatives in the realms of ecotourism, adventure tourism, and sports tourism, with an emphasis on fostering tourism ties between the two states.

Mrs. Maria Victoria Romero Caballero gave information on the Raramuri people, an ethnic group known for their remarkable long-distance running abilities and mentioned that the marathon held every year in Mexico was planned in the July of the current year for the 27th times. She referenced a marathon held in Austria previous year, which attracted numerous tourists and athletes from around the world, and proposed organizing a similar ultramarathon in Azerbaijan.

Kanan Gasimov, Head of Staff, highlighted the positive impact of sports tourism on bolstering tourist inflows between countries. He also provided comprehensive information about Azerbaijan's National Grassland Festival, the Baku Marathon, and traditional Azerbaijani sports such as Zorkhana and Chowgan.

It is worth noting that Azerbaijani authorities have implemented a simplified "e-visa" system for Mexican citizens.
